Sophomore Jake Butt, Tight End
Number: 88
Hometown: Pickerington North HS; Pickerington, OH
Height/Weight: 6'6. 250 lbs.
Three Things To Know About Jake
1. We already know Jake from his emergence last year as Michigan's best option at tight end. Jake was the third leading receiver on the team with 20 receptions, 235 yards, and two touchdowns. Most of his production was in a monster game against Ohio State (5 rec, 85 yds, 1 td), but it was a solid first season for a freshman forced into such a big role.
2. Unfortunately, Jake's offseason development hit a snag as he injured his ACL in the spring and has been sidelined with that since. It is looking increasingly likely that Jake will take the Jake Ryan accelerated recovery path and be back midway through the season. Brady Hoke has recently said that he thinks this could be as soon as the third or fourth game, which would be a big boost to a passing offense that is looking to replace a lot of production after losing Jeremy Gallon.
3. He can't cook:
Never had food poisoning in my life. Since I've moved into my apartment though, I've had it twice.. #chef

Do NCAA rules prohibit me from sending him a meat thermometer to make sure he is cooking his food to the proper temperature?
