Sophomore Da'Mario Jones, Wide Receiver
Number: 10
Hometown: John Glenn HS; Westland, MI
Height/Weight: 6'0, 198 lbs.
Three Things To Know About Da'Mario
1. Da'Mario almost ended up a couple hours north of Ann Arbor as he originally committed to play football at Central Michigan until the Wolverines showed interest. Michigan wasn't the only school showing late interest, as Michigan State, UCLA, and Georgia offered with interest also reportedly coming from FSU and Alabama.
2. Despite being a late offer and lower rated prospect, there is some thought that Jones could outplay his recruiting hype. Magnus of TTB (a great site that is worth checking in on a few times a week for UM football junkies) reiterates this in his own countdown:
I thought - and still think - that Jones was the best receiver in Michigan's 2013 class, and he played more than any of the other receivers (Csont'e York played in one game; Jaron Dukes redshirted). Recently, the freshman wideouts who make it on the field generally have had decent abilities and/or play with some regularity throughout their careers. That gives me some hope for Jones, who played regularly on special teams coverage and mostly did a good job
3. A breakout year for Jones would be nice, considering the last time we heard his name mentioned prominently in a game it was for muffing a punt as a blocker downfield. Not a good moment to be remembered by.
