Now, Jake will be playing middle linebacker in Michigan's new-look 4-3 over defense.  The move is designed to make Ryan a factor on every play and keep teams from being able to run away from him or spread him out with three- and four-wide sets.  This new defense will also highlight his skills as a blitzer, as Mattison looks hellbent on amping up the pressure with a variety of blitzes from everywhere.  Jake Ryan screaming up the A-gap?  Every quarterback's worst nightmare.
