Three Things To Know About Devin
1. I've already talked at length recently about Gardner and the upcoming season. If you haven't yet, go back and read that now.
2. Gardner looks to have taken another step forward in the offseason, getting more acquainted with Doug Nussmeier's offense and the reads and checks that come along with it.
"He's brought a lot, and done a lot for me to be able to protect myself in the passing game and getting us in the right run checks and things like that, and it's been exciting," Gardner said. "Before coach Nuss got here, I never (had to) identify a MIKE (linebacker in coverage). Now, I'm identifying the MIKE's and knowing where the pressure's coming from.
"So if I am going to have to be hot (against a blitz), I'll know how to protect myself. Or, throw (a hot route) to a receiver. It's been amazing for me."
Nussmeier's offense gives a lot more freedom to the quarterback to make checks and adjust the play to best attack the defense, and that should fit well with Gardner's playmaking ability.
3. I mean, remember this?
The wait is almost over.
