Who: Mercyhurst at Michigan
Where: Yost Ice Arena
When: Friday, 7:35pm - Sunday, 5:05pm
Hockey season is upon us! Michigan will open the 2015-16 season with a visit from the Mercyhurst Lakers of Atlantic Hockey.
The Lakers have already begun their season starting 3-1-0 with a split over Colgate and sweeping Bentley. Freshman Taylor Best leads the team in scoring with four goals and Josh Lammon, Jonathan Charbonneau and Kane Elliot have each added two.
In net Brandon Wildung is their starter after posting a .924 sv% through 24 games a year ago.
For the Wolverines the first game will be a work in progress. Lines, pairings and special teams will be all new and the freshman will be adjusting to game speed. Chemistry doesn't build overnight but they will have to work through it.
What to look for
Center will be talked about quite a bit this season. Max Shuart and Cooper Marody held down lines three and four during the exhibition, let's see how things go this weekend.
The power play didn't look great against Toronto. This team has an influx of talent but will it be enough to overcome Berenson's ancient umbrella power play?
Boo Nieves and JT Compher both played well against Toronto, look for both players to get their seasons started off on the right foot.
