Michigan Jumps Ohio State into Top 3 of New S&P+ Rankings
After Michigan's 28-16 win at Penn State and Ohio State's miserable loss to Michigan State, the Wolverines have leapfrogged the Buckeyes in Bill Connelly's S&P+ rankings, which are derived from play-by-play data and adjust for opponents. Michigan has jumped from No. 5 to No. 3, while Ohio State has fallen from No. 3 to No. 5. The rest of the top five is No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama, and No. 4 Oklahoma.
Also, S&P+ ranks Michigan's defense as the second-best in the nation behind only Alabama.
