Monday Marked the Beginning of the ‘Recruiting Dead Period'
As you may have heard, Monday marked the first day of the ‘dead period' for college football recruiting. In short, the ‘dead period' is the most restrictive of the recruiting periods, as coaches are forbidden from in-person contact with recruits. Written and electronic communication are the only forms that are allowed during this time.
This period will last until January 14, in which the ‘contact period' will begin once again. Check out this link for further information about these NCAA periods.
Michigan Visits Rashan Gary Prior to Dead Period
Greg Mattison and Chris Patridge went in-home with 2016 No. 1 recruit Rashan Gary over the weekend prior to the start of the dead period, per Steve Wiltfong of Wolverine247 ($).
Gary is slated to announce his decision on National Signing Day. He is expected to visit Michigan again prior to that, as well as take an official visit to USC.
Elite 2017 OT Names Michigan in Top 10
Per his Twitter page on Tuesday, 2017 five-star OT Isaiah Wilson (Brooklyn, NY) has included Michigan in his top 10. Also rounding out the list was Michigan State, LSU, UNC, Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Oregon, and Florida.
He is currently ranked as the fifth OT in his class and first in the state of New York.
3* 2016 LB Includes Michigan in Top 2
According to Ryan Bartow of Wolverine247 ($), 2016 three-star LB Jonathan Jones (Orlando, FL) has narrowed his list down to two programs, Michigan and Notre Dame.
He took his official visit to Ann Arbor this past weekend, and it appeared to be a success. In the span of the few days, Jones attended both a hockey and basketball game, sat down with Coach Harbaugh, and met a few of the current players. He is set to make his decision following his final two official visits.
He is currently ranked as the 31st OLB in the 2016 cycle.
Michigan Offers 2016 TE Chase Allen
Per his Twitter page on Monday night, 2016 three-star TE Chase Allen (Nixa, MO) has been offered by Michigan. He is the 26th-ranked TE in his class and sits at No. 6 in the state of Missouri.
He also holds offers from Minnesota, Illinois, and Indiana, among others.

2017 QB Receives Offer from Michigan
Just one day following his decommitment from Georgia, 2017 four-star QB Bailey Hockman (Powder Springs, GA) has received an offer from Michigan. Per the 247Composite, he is currently the third-ranked QB in his class.
He also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, and Florida State, among others.
Wolverines Extend Offer to 2017 ATH
Per Brandon Brown of TheWolverine.com and Rivals (FREE), Michigan has extended an offer to 2017 four-star ATH Malcom Askew (McAlla, AL). He is currently ranked as No. 14 ATH in his class.
He holds offers from several schools, most notably Alabama, Clemson, and LSU.
ICYMI: 2016 WR Nate Johnson Announces Michigan Commitment
The Wolverines grabbed yet another commitment for their 2016 cycle when three-star WR Nate Johnson (Thompson's Station, TN) announced his post-high school plans on Twitter. This came after his official visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend.
Per Barton Simmons of Wolverine247 (FREE), Johnson recorded 87 receptions for 1,713 yards and 27 touchdowns during his senior season. He is currently ranked as the No. 13 prospect in the state of Tennessee per the 247Composite.

ICYMI: Michigan Grabs Commitment from 2017 WR
Michigan received a commitment for their 2017 class in the form of three-star WR Jeremiah Holloman (Covington, GA), per his Twitter page. Holloman also held offers from several programs, including Cincinnati, Indiana, and Northwestern.
