Wednesday Michigan Recruiting Roundup: Three U-M Commits to Represent Michigan at UA Game

In this edition, check out which Michigan commits are acting as recruits this weekend, as well as updates on top Michigan targets.

Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Those slated to play at the Under Armour All-American Game on January 2 have begun to arrive in Florida, per Steve Wiltfong of Wolverine247 (FREE). Future Wolverines Devin Bush Jr. (ILB) and Ben Bredeson (OT) are among those in attendance.

According to Steve Lorenz of Wolverine247 ($), Bredeson is especially looking forward to the UA game. He is eager to prove that he has earned the star ranking he has been given (four-star per the 247Composite) and looks to accomplish that by going up against elite defensive lineman, including Rashan Gary. Bredeson and Bush Jr. may also act as recruiters this week, as they plan on speaking with Gary and TE Jacob Mathis about all Michigan has to offer.

They caught up with Tim Sullivan of and Rivals ($) in order to chat about the upcoming game and their impending move to Ann Arbor. If you have a membership to Rivals, you may check out the video here.

Per Clint Brewster of Wolverine247 (FREE), Bredeson will begin his Michigan career at left guard.

Michigan RB commit Kareem Walker will also join them in Florida this week. Also participating in this game are several Michigan targets, including DT Rashan Gary, LB Dontavious Jackson, and OG Terrance Davis.

VIDEO: Rashan Gary Shows Off at UA Practice

Rashan Gary isn't wasting any time in showing us why he's the number one recruit in the 2016 class, getting to the quarterback quickly during practice for the Under Armour game. Check out the video here, per Kevin Flaherty of Wolverine247 (FREE).

Gary spoke with Nick Baumgardner of MLive on Tuesday, and he had quite a bit to say about Michigan and the recruiting process. He has one visit scheduled for January, which will be to USC on the 15th.

Update on Texas DE Levi Onwuzurike

Four-star defensive end Levi Onwuzurike (Allen, TX) indicated to Ruth Robbins of Wolverine247 ($) that he may make his announcement on January 20, as he is not participating in any All-American bowl games.

The decision has come down to three universities for the athlete: Michigan, Baylor, and Washington. If the change at defensive coordinator for the Wolverines brought up any questions as to the team's interest in Onwuzurike, they have been answered. Per Steve Lorenz of Wolverine247 ($), new DC Don Brown is extremely high on the DE, especially his proven ability to rush the passer.

He is currently the 20th-ranked DE in his class and sits at No. 43 in the state of Texas according to the 247Composite.

Michigan CB Target Named Finalist for USA Today DPOY

On Monday afternoon, USA Today released their list of finalists for the USA Today High School Defensive Player of the Year award. One of the names who made the cut was Michigan target Lavert Hill, a four-star CB/ATH out of Detroit, MI, per Steve Lorenz of Wolverine247 (FREE).

He currently sits as the 11th-ranked CB in his class and 5th in the state of Michigan per the 247Composite. The Crystal Ball is currently in favor of Michigan landing Hill.

Michigan Among Top Contenders for 2017 Top100 QB

Michigan, along with Stanford, Michigan State, and UCLA are currently among the favorites to land 2017 four-star quarterback Davis Mills (Norcross, GA) per Steve Wiltfong of Wolverine247 (FREE).

During his junior year, Mills threw for over 2,800 yards and 25 touchdowns with only seven interceptions. He also ran for 577 yards and an additional 14 touchdowns. Per the 247Composite, he currently sits as the 6th-ranked pro-style QB in the 2017 cycle and 13th in the state of Georgia.

The 247 Crystal Ball is currently in favor of Stanford landing Mills.
