Minnesota 2 - Michigan 0
On a night Michigan needed to win, Steve Racine delivered a superstar performance stopping 30 shots and keeping this team in the game until the empty netter sealed it. It was the vaunted Michigan offense for the second night that didn't show up.
Minnesota kept the same game plan. They pushed the Michigan forwards wide in transition and used their change to get Brady Skjei's pairing on Zach Hyman and Dylan Larkin. For the second night the offense was neutralized, but this time a goal 4 minutes into the game was all the Gophers needed to be the difference.
Adding on top of a nightmare weekend, Michigan lost Andrew Copp after an awkward collision into the boards.
Now things gets tight. Michigan sits tied for 16th in the PairWise and tied for 1st in the Big Ten. More importantly, Penn State and Michigan State sit just two points out of first place.
With eight games remaining against Ohio State, and Wisconsin at Yost, a home-and-home with the Spartans and a Penn State series on the road they'll need to go 7-1 at worst for any shot at an at-large spot. Lose at home and it's over. Get ready for a wild ride.
