The Big Ten released the breakdown of Michigan basketball's 2015-16 conference schedule this afternoon (Feb. 19th). Michigan will play an 18-game schedule with five home-and-home series and eight single-plays. The Wolverines' five home-and-home series will be against Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Penn State, and Purdue. The remaining eight single-plays will consist of four at home against Indiana, Michigan State, Northwestern, and Rutgers, and four on the road against Illinois, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Wisconsin.
The main news is that Michigan will face each of its two rivals, Michigan State and Ohio State, only once next season. The last time the Wolverines had a single-play with the Spartans was in 2009, while the last time the Wolverines had a single-play with the Buckeyes was just last season in 2014. And the last time Michigan battled against Michigan State and Ohio State only once each in a season was all the way back in 1971. Unfortunately, this was bound to happen with the Big Ten's expansion to 14 schools.
Michigan also is supposed to play Penn State at Madison Square Garden on January 30th, 2016, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. With the Wolverines and the Nittany Lions playing a home-and-home series next season, it is unclear which team will be surrendering a home game to play in New York City.
UPDATE: Michigan will not surrender a home game to play PSU at MSG:
Clarified Michigan and Penn State's home-and-away with Big Ten office. One game will be at Madison Square Garden. The other is in Ann Arbor.

This means Michigan's Big Ten schedule will consist of nine home games, eight road games, and one neutral-site game.
Dates, times, and television designations will be announced at a later date.
