Major takeaways from Michigan football's 2015 spring roster

With spring practices slated to begin on Tuesday, the Michigan football program released its 2015 spring roster with some notable position changes and weight gains.

ANN ARBOR -- Spring practices are set to begin on Tuesday for the Michigan football program. With that, the football program also released its annual spring rosters for public consumption.

The rosters, which are posted on, has notable position changes, significant weight gains and also has numbers for its two early enrollee freshman.

The roster breakdown is as follows:

Notable position changes:
  • Ross Taylor-Douglas, who has bounced around from defensive back as a freshman to running back last season, has returned to the cornerback position. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound redshirt sophomore is looking to crack the starting lineup this season.
  • Redshirt freshman Brady Pallante has switched from the defensive line to fullback. Pallante is listed 6-foot, 276-pounds. Compared to the rest of the fullbacks on roster, no other weighs more than 250-pounds.
Early enrollee freshman numbers:

  • Freshman early enrollee quarterback Alex Malzone will wear the number 12 jersey for Michigan. Malzone is reporting to camp at 6-foot-2 and weighing 212-pounds.
  • Freshman early enrollee wide receiver Brian Cole will wear the number 81 jersey. Cole is reporting to camp at 6-foot-2 and weighting 200-pounds.
Notable weight gains:

  • Redshirt sophomore running back Ty Isaac, who missed last season due to transfer rules, saw a significant weight gain from last season. Weighing 225-pounds last year, Isaac is reporting to camp weighing 240-pounds.
  • Redshirt freshman tight end Ian Bunting, who needed to make some gains to get to playing weight, appears to do just that heading into spring. Weighing in at 230-pounds before the 2014 season, Bunting will check in to spring practice weighing in at 243-pounds.
Michigan's first padded practice of the spring will be on Friday.
