About MSU

This will be the 3rd different series between the two teams this season, and every time they play the Spartans have a new twist in their story.

Michigan State has spent the entire year at or right below the .500 mark, getting close but never being able to get over the hump.

They lost a handful of key non-conference games by 1 goal, lost to Princeton and Wisconsin, there were player suspensions and just when it looked like the wheels would fall off the program, they beat Minnesota and Wisconsin and now find themselves in 1st place in the Big Ten.

By now we're all too familiar with this team's style of play. The Spartans are great on defense; they block a ton of shots and limit mistakes to keep everything simple for Jake Hildebrand, who is sporting a .930 SV% and a goals against just above 2.

The neutral zone is where this team makes it's living. They take up space and wall off the blueline to deny easy entries, and use turnovers to start quick counter attacks.

This team doesn't score much but they're opportunistic. Matt Berry always seems to make plays against the Wolverines and MacEachern looks to be turning the corner with a goal and three assists in his last three games. Michael Ferrantino has a 2-5--7 line in his last 6 games.

It's been quite some time since this series meant anything. This weekend not only is the Big Ten Title on the line, but there's such a small gap in the standings that either team could end the weekend in 1st or 4th. Can the Wolverines score enough to win two games?
