The future of head coach Red Berenson has been a hot topic for most of this season and started heating up after the team missed the postseason for the third consecutive year, but in his end of the year press conference Berenson said he will return for a 32nd year behind the bench.
Berenson has said that he thinks about retirement more these days and would walk away if he thought he wasn't the right fit to lead the program anymore, but barring any early departures Michigan looks to have it's best team in years. Returning almost their entire team and adding a highly touted recruiting class, on paper this looks like a team who could challenge for a Frozen Four.
Berenson signed a 3 year contract extension to lead the program into Big Ten hockey, a contract which will enter it's final season next year.
