10-Year-Old Ohio State Fan Worried that Heart Surgery Would Make Him a Michigan Fan

Ohio State fan and 10-year-old Ivan Applin needed to have surgery to fix the holes in his heart, and the surgery was to be performed at the University of Michigan's Mott's Congenital Heart Center. As pediatric cardiologist Dr. Ronald Grifka explained the procedure to Applin, the young Buckeye fan had one troubling concern on his mind.

"He asked if the Michigan doctors were going to make his heart love University of Michigan instead of Ohio State," Applin's mother, Jennifer, laughed.

The best news is that the surgery was successful, and Applin was able to return home the next day. And, yes, Applin did remain an Ohio State fan after the surgery, though I think we can all agree that Applin would be much better off loving Michigan instead.
