Watch Guide: Week 6

Another solid weekend of college football.

NCAA Football: Oklahoma at Texas Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Note: All times listed are in Eastern Time

Friday, October 7th

#3 Clemson at Boston College, 7:30PM, ESPN

#19 Boise State at New Mexico, 9PM, CBSSN

There are two other games tonight, but these two have higher watchability due to potential upsets. Only tune in if these games are still close after halftime; otherwise, watch You’re Next on Syfy’s 31 Days of Halloween, one of my favorite recent horror movies.

Saturday, October 8th

Midday

#20 Oklahoma at Texas, Noon, FS1

History points to a Longhorns upset in the 111th edition of the Red River Shootout Rivalry Showdown (how about Red River Rendezvous for the next title?). The Sooners will be looking to avenge their lone regular season loss last year on top of trying to prove they aren’t dead in the water after a tumultuous start to 2016. As for Texas, Charlie Strong (probably?) needs a win here to keep his job. Regardless of the outcome, expect the unpredictable.

Notre Dame at NC State, Noon, ABC

Watch this game if you’re curious to see if the Leprechauns continue to fall.

Afternoon

#6 Houston at Navy, 3PM, CBSSN

Watch this game if it looks like the Cougars are struggling.

Indiana at #2 Ohio State, 3:30PM, ESPN

Can the Hoosiers stop a Buckeyes offense that collects the defenders left in their wake like the prince trying to rebuild celestial objects in Katamari Damacy? Unlikely but worth checking this one out to see if Indiana can challenge Ohio State at all.

#9 Tennessee at #8 Texas A&M, 3:30PM, CBS

Are either of these teams for real? Can either challenge Alabama for the SEC crown? The answer to both is probably “No,” but the Vols have been winning with some voodoo magic, making for some fun football games.

#21 Colorado at USC, 3:30PM, PAC-12N

Watch this game if you want Michigan’s win over Colorado to continue to look more impressive.

Nighttime

#4 Michigan at Rutgers, 7PM, ESPN2

I attended this game two years ago, I hope that remains the only Michigan loss to Rutgers until college football no longer exists.

#1 Alabama at #16 Arkansas, 7PM, ESPN

I doubt the Razorbacks put up much of a fight here, but Bama tends to stumble once per year. Who better to capitalize on that than Ol’ Bert?

#5 Washington at Oregon, 7:30PM, FOX

It’s been 12 years since Washington topped Oregon. All signs point to a Huskies romp, so watch this game if you like seeing teams end long losing streaks against their rivals and/or reliving the 1990s (or if you hope for crazy upsets in rivalry games).

#23 FSU at #10 Miami, 8PM, ABC

The Seminoles may not be as bad as their record indicates, but a resurgent Hurricanes team under Mark Richt stands in the way of FSU’s recovery. This should be a solid game, especially if you like Miami’s uniforms from their heyday.

#Pac12AfterDark

Arizona at #24 Utah, 10PM, FS1

Washington State at #15 Stanford, 10:30PM, ESPN

UCLA at Arizona State, 10:30PM, ESPN2

At least one of these three is bound for #Pac12AfterDark glory.

B1G Leftovers

Maryland at Penn State, Noon, BTN

Watch this game if you’re curious about the legitimacy of this 4-0 Terrapins team.

Iowa at Minnesota, Noon, ESPN2

Watch this game if you care about the whereabouts of the Floyd of Rosedale.

BYU at Michigan State, 3:30PM, ABC

Watch this game if you want to see how the Spartans bounce back (if they even do).

Purdue at Illinois, 3:30PM, BTN

Watch this game if you’re interested in knowing who will finish last in the B1G West.
