Michigan will have a road game for just the third time this year Saturday, as they travel to face the Iowa Hawkeyes. Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City will be a loud environment and a good road test for the Wolverines. On the season, Iowa is 5-4. They have dropped their last two contests, first to Wisconsin, and then was trounced last week by Penn State 41-14.

Getting to know Iowa:

  • Has allowed more than 420 yards the last three games
  • 118th in Total Offense
  • 62nd in Total Defense
  • 93rd in Rush Offense
  • 60th in sacks
  • Three touchdown underdog for the first time at home in 17 years
  • Quarterback C.J. Beathard has passed for fewer than 200 yards in six of nine games

Player to Watch

Iowa may not have a lot of “wow” type players, but they have one at cornerback in Desmond King. The reigning Jim Thorpe winner, King will have a shot at a long career in the NFL. Standing 5’11”, King tallied 8 interceptions last season and racked up an impressive amount of tackles for a corner (72). His numbers have been down this year, but that is no fault of his own, teams are not throwing his way, he’s an island out there and no one wants to go to it. Speight will challenge King, if the opportunity presents itself.
