“Saturday from my coach,” Thomas said, regarding when he picked up the offer from Michigan. “I was excited because I know that’s a huge offer to get!”
The inside linebacker says he expects more offers because there has been a lot of schools showing interest in him including N.C. State, Duke, Eastern Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina, Louisville, Florida State, and Maryland.
Before getting offered by Michigan, Thomas had an offer to play for Charlotte.
In his last game for Heritage High School, the linebacker opened the game with a fumble recovery for a touchdown. To finish the game, Thomas shifted to running back and scored a touchdown on eight carries for 75 yards to give Heritage a 25-22 victory.
“He ain’t no sophomore, he’s a grown man out there,” Heritage coach Dewayne Washington said to Mike Blake of The News and Observer. “I can’t say enough about him. He’s a special kid.”
Thomas has 103 tackles to this point in the 2016 season. He also managed 45 tackles during his freshman year. The 6-foot-0, 220-pound linebacker has ran the ball for 339 yards.
“Their football program is currently getting stronger,” Thomas said about Michigan. “Coach [Jim] Harbaugh definitely is taking them in the right direction.”
