Penn State Hockey Player Gets Suspension for Brutal Hit on Michigan's Tyler Motte

Big Ten levies one-game suspension for Andrew Sturtz.

The Michigan Wolverines doubled up Penn State 6-3 Saturday at Madison Square Garden, but the win didn't come without a cost.

Nittany Lions player Andrew Sturtz laid a nasty -- and illegal -- elbow to the face of Michigan's Tyler Motte late in the game. If you're brave, you can watch the hit in the clip above.

The Big Ten hasn't let the crime go unpunished, handing down a one-game suspension for Sturtz. Not only did Motte end up bloodied, you can even see his mouth guard go flying across the ice following the blow.

The Wolverines next take to the ice Friday, Feb. 5, at Joe Louis Arena versus Michigan State.
