Elite 2018 DL/TE Leonard Taylor Commits to Michigan

The Wolverines earn their second 2018 commitment, and it's a big one.

Even though the focus was on Friday night's spring game, recruiting never stops.

Elite 2018 prospect Leonard Taylor (Springfield, OH) committed to the Wolverines on Friday, he announced on Twitter. Taylor was in attendance for Michigan's spring game, making his second unofficial visit to Ann Arbor in the past three weeks. Taylor decided that he had seen all that he needed to see in that time and pulled the trigger.

Taylor is ranked as the 22nd-best recruit nationally in the 2018 class by 247Sports. He is listed as a tight end and defensive lineman, though it's unclear what position he will play at the collegiate level. Further, he is listed as the third-best prospect in the state of Ohio.

This is an enormous pickup for Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines. Taylor had offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Nebraska, and Tennessee, and was believed to be high on the Buckeyes' board. Though National Signing Day for the 2018 class is a mere 22 months away, Harbaugh has won a big recruiting battle against Urban Meyer for now.

Taylor is Michigan's second commitment of the 2018 class, joining high-school teammate and four-star linebacker Antwuan Johnson.
