Motte was a fourth round pick of the Blackhawks in the 2013 NHL Draft. This past season at Michigan, he scored 32 goals with 56 total points in 38 games played while playing on the top line with J.T. Compher and Kyle Connor.
Berenson is coming back to coach the team next season, but the team will look vastly different. They now await pro decisions from Compher and Connor, who's NHL rights are held by the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets, respetively.
The Wolverines have also lost defensemen Michael Downing and Zach Werenski to the Florida Panthers and Columbus Blue Jackets so far this offseason.
