Bearden led the Bulls to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in his two seasons with the team. The point guard averaged 13.7 points and 4.2 assists per game last season, while playing 30 minutes per game.
Saddi Washington, who is a new assistant for Michigan, began his career as the assistant to Nate Oats at Romulus. Bearden played for Oats at Buffalo, so there is some mutual ties between the point guard and Washington.
After getting Kentucky transfer Charles Matthews, Michigan has one scholarship to hand out for the upcoming season. Matthews will have to sit out for the 2016-17 season due to NCAA transfer rules, so will Bearden.
Bearden will have two years of eligibility left after sitting out the 2016-17 season.
