Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh spoke at Big Ten media days in Chicago, Illinois and passed on information about the 2016 season. Last campaign, the Wolverines finished 10-3 with a 6-2 Big Ten record.
"Ty Isaac has a really good chance to make something happen," Harbaugh said to the media when speaking about Michigan’s run game.
While Harbaugh gave some praise to Isaac, he did not forget top running back De’Veon Smith. Last season, Smith ran the ball 180 times for 753 yards and six touchdowns.
"De’Veon Smith can do multiple things," Harbaugh said. "He can run between the tackles. He can run outside. He can pass protect. He has got a chance to be really a really good pass protector. He is also coming along with his hands and catching the ball and route running. That’s something that can be improved."
Nevertheless, Harbaugh spoke highly of Isaac, which could mean the Wolverines could use him more and more throughout the season if he continues to impress.
"It’s a great position and a wonderful position to coach," Harbaugh said of the running back position. "There’s always something that you can find that you can do a little better."
Isaac took the ball for 205 yards and a touchdown on 30 attempts in the 2015 season.
