In early June, Michigan coach John Beilein went to Beaverton, Oregon to see a preview of the basketball uniforms. Breaverton is the home of Nike headquarters.
Beilein’s basketball team will wear Jordan uniforms and shoes. Michigan will join North Carolina, Georgetown, California and Marquette as the only men’s basketball team with the Jordan Brand. As far as women’s basketball, the only programs that wear Jordan gear are North Carolina and Jordan. The women’s team at Michigan will join those two programs.
Michigan is in its first year of a $173.8 million deal with Nike.
The Michigan football team will be the first program in the country to wear the Jordan Brand once the season kicks off on September 3 against Hawaii at Michigan Stadium.
