Yes, it has been 25 years since Desmond Howard made one of the greatest catches in Michigan Wolverines history:
Facing fourth and one on Sept. 14, 1991, Howard made his famous diving catch for a 25-yard touchdown. The score sealed a 24-14 win over No. 7 Notre Dame.
The throw — and pump fake — from quarterback Elvis Grbac was executed perfectly and when Howard emerged with the ball in his hands, Michigan Stadium lost its collective mind.
Not only was it a huge win, it ended a four-game winning streak for the Irish in the series.
UM led just 17-14 when the play occurred. Luckily, we’ll never know what might have happened had it fallen incomplete.
