Michigan’s honorary captain against Wisconsin: Anne Curzan

The Wolverines will host Anne Curzan as the honorary captain on Saturday.

Michigan will have Anne Curzan as the honorary captain at Michigan Stadium on Saturday against Wisconsin, according to Michigan’s official promotions page.

Curzan is a professor at the University of Michigan and is the author five books. She earned a B.A. from Yale University and a M.A. and Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from Michigan.

The books written by Curzan include How English works, First day to final grade, Gender shifts in the history of English, The secret life of words and Fixing English.

She has won the Henry Russel Award, the Faculty Recognition Award and the John Dewey Award. Gurzan is a member of the American Heritage Dictonary Usage Panel and is a co-host of “That’s What They Say” on Michigan Public Radio.

Curzan has helped Michigan athletes to be successful, especially off the field.

During the game, Mark Donahue, John Urbanchek, Kate Johnson and Lorne Howes will be honored as they are inducted into the Michigan Hall of Honor.

The Michigan softball team will be recognized for winning the Big Ten Conference title. Also, the Michigan water polo team will be recognized for winning the Big Ten Conference championship and for finishing fourth in the NCAA Tournament.
