Just because we’re in-season doesn’t mean the recruiting stops. Yesterday evening, Jayson Oweh, a 2018 four-star DE recruit, announced on Twitter that he had been offered by Michigan.

Oweh, from New Jersey, is a highly regarded recruit - checking in at No. 161 in the 247Composite rankings and No. 7 at his position group. The 6’5” 236 lbs. prospect has good size for the DE position, but should look to gain muscle when he arrives at whichever school he selects. Oweh’s film shows that he is very athletic with great quickness, two qualities possessed by many top-flight DEs in both the college game and the pros.
This is a unique situation with how late in the cycle Michigan has offered Oweh. Typically with a recruit of his caliber, the Wolverines would have offered and been involved in his recruitment earlier if they expected to play a role. However, Oweh has told recruiting outlets that the Michigan offer is a ‘game changer,’ so we’ll see how this one plays out.
As always, keep an eye on MnB for more recruiting news as National Signing Day approaches.
