Michigan vs. Indiana Game Thread: Daunting Memories at Memorial Stadium

Things started out great for me at Memorial Stadium, but got annoying quite quickly

Gather ‘round, kids, and let Uncle Von tell you a story of my one trip to Bloomington, Indiana for when Michigan took on Indiana.

The year was 2010. My father, mother, brother and myself took a weekend trip to Indiana to see the Wolverines in action. Things started out great, as the opening song to the game was my favorite song of all time: Baba O’Riley by The Who. But after that fantastic song, it was time for the Wolverines to do battle with the Hoosiers.

Hoosiers. That would be a word engraved in my brain the rest of that weekend.

For those of you who don’t know, every time Indiana gets a first down the announcer says this phrase: “FIRST! DOWN! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSIERSSSSSSSSSSSSS!” And then the Hoosier fans stand up, make both hands into a fist and do what I called the “Rock ‘em sock ‘em robot,” where one fist would go up while the other went down and then repeat with their other fist going up with the other going down.

After about 100 motions of that, they sit back down and wait for another first down to annoy the hell out of me again.

Michigan’s defense back in 2010 wasn’t the greatest, so of course Indiana got 35 first downs in that game.

THIRTY-FIVE FREAKIN’ FIRST DOWNS. I had to hear “first down Hoosiers” 35 times. At the end of the day, U-M won so I was happy leaving that place.

Something tells me people won’t be doing the Rock ‘em sock ‘em robot 35 times this Saturday, but crazier things have happened.

Anyways, let’s get to the game thread.

Today’s question: Will Nolan Ulizio start at right tackle, or will Juwann Bushell-Beatty resume the roll after taking over for Ulizio in the MSU game?

I, once again, will not be able to comment this week (it has been an incredibly busy college football season for me so far). I will be visiting my alma mater, Central Michigan, for Homecoming and will be partaking in adult beverage consumption before heading to see Sugar Shane Morris take down the Toledo Rockets.

Enjoy the game, Fire Up Chips and Go Blue!
