Game Recap: Michigan beats Indiana 27-20

An entertaining game

Michigan doesn’t make it easy for themselves or their fans sometimes, this game was a nail-biter, a root canal, a four hour heart attack. The good news for the Wolverines is they pulled a win out of their hat in overtime to beat the Indiana Hoosiers.

GAME RECAP

First Quarter

On Michigan’s first possession of the day, they have a methodical 6:17 drive that stalls in the red-zone. The ever reliable Quinn Nordin nails a 40 yard field goal. Michigan leads 3-0

Second Quarter

After blocking an Indiana field goal and being set up in good field position on the return, Michigan settles for another Quinn Nordin field goal, this time from 38 yards. Michigan leads 6-0

Michigan’s best drive of the game features a clutch John O’Korn third down throw that keeps the drive moving. That pivotal play leads to Karan Higdon capping the drive off with a 12 yard touchdown run. Michigan leads 13-0

Aided by multiple Michigan penalties that extended the drive, Indiana gets into the red-zone and winds up with a 32 yard field goal by Griffin Oakes. Michigan leads 13-3

Third Quarter

After IU’s defense produces a three and out, their offense marches right down the field and produces an 8 yard Morgan Ellison touchdown run. Michigan leads 13-10

Fourth Quarter

The Michigan offense has been lackluster, but the lone bright spot strikes again with good blocking aiding a gaping hole for Karan Higdon. The play goes for a 59 yard touchdown run. Michigan leads 20-10

A long punt return puts Indiana in excellent field position and score on a 8 yard touchdown pass by Peyton Ramsey to Whop Philyor. Michigan leads 20-17

With just two seconds left on the clock, Indiana is able to get into field goal range for a 46 yard attempt, Griffin Oakes makes the kick and sends the game into overtime. Score is tied 20-20

Overtime

On the first play of overtime Karan Higdon rushes for a 25 yard touchdown to give Michigan the lead. Michigan leads 27-20
