The first ever early signing period for college football begins this week (Dec. 20) and a ton of recruits are expected to sign.
Michigan, at this moment, has 17 recruits verbally committed to the 2018 class. Some are expected to sign this week, while others will wait it out and sign in February.
Here is a list of U-M verbal commits who expect to sign this week:
- 4-star OL Jalen Mayfield
- 4-star OL Ryan Hayes, per LandOf10.com.
- 4-star DB Myles Sims
- 4-star LB Cameron McGrone
- 4-star QB Joe Milton
- 3-star RB Hassan Haskins
- 3-star RB Christian Turner
- 3-star DL Taylor Upshaw
- 3-star DB Sammy Faustin
- 3-star DB’s German and Gemon Green
The others that we aren’t sure of yet:
- 4-star TE Mustapha Muhammad
- 4-star LB/S Otis Reese
- 4-star DL Aidan Hutchinson
- 3-star TE Luke Schoonmaker
- 3-star TE/LB Ben VanSumeren
- 3-star QB Kevin Doyle
The only reason we are not sure of those players yet is simply because they have not publicly stated they are signing early. I would expect some of the players above to sign this week. Hutchinson, for example, is a legacy recruit for Michigan and has been verbally committed longer than everyone expect for Reese. I would fully expect him to sign early.
Speaking of Reese, I would not expect him to sign this week. Even though he has been committed since June 2016, he is being heavily recruited by Georgia right now, so it may be a battle for him until National Signing Day.
