The 2018 recruiting class added three-star 2018 wide receiver Ronnie Bell, who committed to the University of Michigan Monday evening. His recruiting process and commitment announcement style was unlike many. He shared more about his decision and process with Maize n Brew.
Six days, three big announcements, one offer
The 6-foot-1,170-pound athlete from Kansas City, Missouri had only one football offer, from Michigan, which came two days after de-committing to Missouri State to play basketball.

Shortly after, all the 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions favored Michigan.
December 18: Committed to Michigan
He wasted no time, no other offers were needed, and he committed on Monday evening to the Wolverines.
How did he commit to Michigan?
Most recruits post a descriptive paragraph on Twitter or other social media, thanking a few people, along with mentioning their school decision with usually a picture or edit done. Ronnie went a different route and simply updated his Twitter profile.
“I don't know what made me want to just put in my profile, haha. I thought that was the way to go for (some) reason,” he said.
People that cover recruiting noticed it and the news quickly spread Monday evening.
Why Michigan?
He's not been to Ann Arbor or The Big House, but he understands what this opportunity means to play for a school like Michigan.
“It means everything to me. To be given this opportunity is the greatest blessing.” He also commented on why he didn't have to wait any longer and that Michigan was a great fit. “Was just my trust in the coaches and the opportunity to play for such a storied program. Also to be given the opportunity to graduate from a school as amazing as Michigan. I had no idea academically how great they were until one of my phone calls with Coach Harbaugh.”
Ronnie also mentioned where he'll likely play, but he's open to other positions if it helps the team.
“I love winning and am willing to play any spot to do so. One of the key things they said was that I am a winner and that mentality brought to the team is what they need. And my physicality blocking,” Bell said.
He's been a fan of Michigan for some time, but gained more interest when they hired Jim Harbaugh. “I've always been a big fan of Coach Harbaugh, so once he got there I was always into Michigan.” He mentioned several other schools within the last week contacted him, including Nebraska, Penn State, Illinois, Kansas State, Western Illinois, North Dakota State, and North Dakota. He was not interested in those other schools, especially after receiving his offer from Michigan.
Bell had 89 catches for 1,605 total yards and 25 touchdowns his senior season. He’s the 18th recruit in the 2018 recruiting class and is set to be in Ann Arbor on Jan. 19th.
