Michigan's early signing period was mostly set with who was expected to announce. Shortly before 8 a.m., four-star strong-side defensive end Julius Welschof from Germany announced his commitment to Michigan.

Welschof committed to Georgia Tech on Oct. 25, then picked up a Michigan offer on Dec. 16. The 6-foot-6, 248-pound athlete is ranked the No. 12 player at his position, according to 247Sports. The last three 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions entered yesterday were in favor of Michigan, but his announcement this morning made it official. He had offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Minnesota, Syracuse, Tulane, Iowa State, Georgia Tech and Rutgers, among others.

The addition of Welschof has moved Michigan to the No. 11 class overall, according to 247Sports.
