This great series goes all the way back to 1887. The two last played in 2014 in a blowout 31-0 loss by Notre Dame. It just makes sense that these two teams play each year, and it's been weird not to have this game for a few years.
Here are some quick stats to get the juices flowing about this Week 1 showdown:
Games played: 42
Series leader: Michigan-24 wins (14 home, 9 away, 1 neutral)
Total points scored: Michigan 884, Notre Dame 742
Most points scored in a game in a win: Michigan, 47 (2006)
Largest margin of victory: Michigan 38 points (2003 and 2007), Notre Dame 31 (2014)
If you're not a fan of night games, especially on the road, just embrace it and get ready for a restored rivalry that we all should be excited about.
This game does not get added into the Big Ten night game rules, so Michigan can still only have one in 2018 at The Big House. The Wolverines full schedule can be found here.
