Who: Michigan at Wisconsin
Where: Madison, Wisconsin
About Wisconsin
This is the second meeting for Michigan and Wisconsin this season. The Wolverines welcomed the Badgers to Yost in December and split a series.
Wisconsin has been a pleasant surprise this season going from the Big Ten cellar to having an outside chance at an at-large big. The Badgers sit at 21st in the PaireWise and would need to rip off a winning streak for the ages to get in without winning the conference tournament but nevertheless, their turnaround this season has been remarkable.
This Wisconsin team has been at opposite ends of the spectrum this season. Offensively the Badgers rank 7th in goals scored per game; the underclassmen trio of Luke Kunin, Trent Frederic and Seamus Malone have led the team this season and upperclassmen Grant Besse and Cameron Hughes have stepped up their game as well.
Defensively Wisconsin ranks 48th in the country in goals allowed. In net both of their goaltenders have posted save percentages below .900.
For Michigan
This is as winnable of a series that the Wolverines have left on their schedule and the odds that they win a game still aren’t good.
If they’re going to have a chance they’ll have to stay out of the box versus a Wisconsin team that has the 7th best power play in the nation and try not to let Kunin, Frederic or Besse get lost in front of Zach Nagelvoort.
