The Michigan Wolverines would still be the biggest winners of the Big Ten Tournament even if they lost their first game. The fact that they survived a potentially disastrous experience has them simply grateful to be alive. Two days and two victories later, this team enters the semifinals playing with an energy that is simply contagious. Can Michigan continue to power through to the conference finals?
Up next is a rematch with Minnesota, a team that got the best of the Wolverines in February. Michigan held close the entire time in Minneapolis and forced overtime on a DJ Wilson three-pointer at the buzzer. Many felt that the referees were less than sharp during the contest and severely tipped the scales toward the home team; Michigan was called for 28 fouls compared to 17 against the Gophers.
A neutral site showdown on Saturday should be a different type of game. Michigan is coming off of one blowout and one upset, and it feels like all of the momentum is on their side. However, Minnesota is enjoying their best season in a few years and will feel confident as well after dispatching Michigan State in the quarterfinals, setting up a big contest in the semifinals.
