This Michigan team has made it a habit of winning ugly and in the most difficult way possible. They continued that trend tonight by having to come back from a one goal deficit twice and overcome another game where they were out-shot badly.

In the offensive end Tony Calderone had himself a night scoring the first Michigan goal in the second period followed by a second goal from Calderone early in the third. The game winning goal came from Brendan Warren after his pass to James Sanchez hit off a Penn State defender and went into the net.

Hayden Lavigne was the star of the night in goal. With Penn State and Michigan both playing how they were expected to play, the Nittany Lions more than doubled up the Wolverines in shots but couldn’t break through Lavinge. He stole this game.

The defense did a better job despite the 37 shots allowed; Penn State will throw the puck on net from anywhere but the Wolverines were able to keep most of those shots to the outside and further away from Lavigne.

Michigan wants to ruin their season and they can put an end to Penn State’s at-large chances tomorrow in the final game of the regular season.
