Michigan Basketball vs. Louisville: How to Watch and GameThread

A narrow victory in the first round gives Michigan a date with the No. 2 seed.

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Michigan vs Oklahoma State Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Not often does Michigan find itself in a game with both teams passing 90 points, but the NCAA Tournament brings about much different foes than the regular season. The Big Ten Tournament Champions held strong against a dangerous Oklahoma State team who played well enough to win on any other day. Both squads shot over 50 percent from the field, but it was the Wolverines who ended the contest on top.

Michigan’s next opponent is Louisville, a team who brings about some tough emotions for fans remembering the 2013 National Championship Game. While the rosters have turned over since then, do not expect the Wolverines to have forgotten their tough defeat four years ago. The Cardinals routed No. 15 Jacksonville State in the first round to set up Sunday’s matchup.

While the Cowboys came into the tournament with the nation’s most efficient offense, Louisville has been a top-10 defensive unit on the season. Their offense is nothing to shrug off either, so Michigan will have their hands full. Do not be deceived by the difference in seeds though; this game is going to be a battle.
