Class of 2018 three-star tight end Lee Payton visited Michigan on March 21st and earned an invite back from offensive coordinator Tim Drevno to see the Wolverines play in a regular season game.
“They didn’t offer,” Payton mentioned. “But they said they want to get me back up at a game. All coaches were in meetings, but I was texting coach (Tim) Drevno after they were done with the meeting.”
The River Rouge (MI) High School athlete has offers to play for Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Florida, Syracuse, Toledo, and Western Michigan.
Payton is ranked No. 721 in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound tight end is the 27th-best at his position and is ranked No. 17 in the state of Michigan.
Payton most recently unofficially visited Michigan on February 23rd and March 21st. He is looking for an offer to play for the Wolverines. He will be at The Opening Regional on April 9th and will also attend the Rivals camp and the Under Armour camp. If Michigan offers, the Maize and Blue would be in his top list of schools.
Over the past few months, Payton has been in lots of contact with Michigan coach Greg Frey.
“He (Greg Frey) has just been saying that he wants to see me at camp and up at the school more,” Payton said.
