Michigan 5 - Minnesota 3

Michigan comes back to beat Minnesota

Not much has gone right for the Wolverines this season so when they went down 2-0 against the 5th ranked Gophers there wasn’t much hope that a comeback could be in the works.

The Gophers took the lead on a goal from Taylor Cammarata and went up 2-0 when a shot from Rem Pitlick bounced off a stick, hit him on the shoulder and trickled by Zach Nagelvoort. The Wolverines put 14 shots on net but couldn’t get any passed Gopher netminder Eric Schierhorn.

The Wolverines didn’t go away. Alex Kile ripped a shot from way out to beat Schierhorn and Tony Calderone tied the game taking a sweet pass from Kile and redirecting it into the net.

After a Vinni Lettieri goal gave Minnesota back the lead. Jake Slaker and Evan Allen found twine to give Michigan their first lead of the night before Will Lockwood sunk the empty netter.

In net, Zach Nagelvoort was outstanding. He’s been good all year and it’s great to see him finishing his career strong after just about everyone counted him out.

The series concludes tomorrow, 8:30pm at Yost.
