The Dallas Cowboys have thrown their support behind Michigan’s star cornerback, drafting him in the 3rd round and bolstering their pass defense.
Michigan fans, of course, know that Lewis has the all-around game to succeed at the next level. The Cowboys have clearly developed a similar mind-set. But Jourdan has his share of doubters (as shown by a bit of a slide in the draft), between some size concerns and a headline incident in the off-season. But that won’t deter Lewis, who’s representing both Michigan and another alma mater, Cass Tech.
“It’s going to be a very big day,” said Thomas Wilcher, who’s the head coach at Detroit Cass Tech. “I’m extremely excited because Delano and Jourdan have worked so hard. I always knew they had it. They had that it factor. I think that when you have kids and they really go out and do what you needed them to do and they really focus and do all the right things, it’s just a blessing. It’s what they deserve to have. So I want to see those kids really flourish.”
He’ll get that opportunity to replicate a sterling Michigan career in the NFL, and he’ll probably have a chip on his shoulder to prove he can get it done. That’s a good combo.
