Rashan Gary goes No. 1 in Michigan Spring Game draft

Michigan’s Spring Game will kick off at 1:00 PM ET on Saturday. Admission is free.

Michigan football held a draft on Saturday to select teams for the Spring Game on Saturday at Michigan Stadium. The No. 1 overall pick in the draft, chosen by the the Maize Team, was defensive end Rashan Gary.

Gary finished the 2016 season with 27 tackles and one sack.

The No. 2 pick in the draft, redshirt junior Wilton Speight, went to the Blue Team. The Blue Team also drafted defensive end Chase Winovich with the third selection.

During the 2016 season, the 6-foot-6, 243-pound quarterback completed 204-of-331 passes (61.6 percent) for 2,538 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

The fourth and fifth picks belonged to Team Maize, who selected linebacker Devin Bush Jr. and athlete Khaleke Hudson. Hudson has played safety and viper linebacker in the past.

Sophomore running back Chris Evans, who carried the ball 88 times for 614 yards and four touchdowns last season, will line up behind Speight on the Blue Team. Team Maize also picked two more defensive starters in safety Tyree Kinnel and linebacker Mike McCray.

The Spring Game will be held at 1:00 PM ET on April 15th at Michigan Stadium. The Big Ten Network will air the game starting at 3:00 PM ET. Prior to the game, Michigan and Ohio State will square off in men’s lacrosse at 10:30 AM ET in The Big House.
