The 6-foot-0, 200-pound athlete started at nickel for the Tigers in 2014. An offseason ACL injury knocked him out for the entire 2015 season. Wiggins made 13 tackles in seven games played last season for Clemson in a reserve role.
Michigan, Oregon, N.C. State, Kansas, FIU, Maryland, and East Carolina are the teams that have reached out to Wiggins. He can transfer to any team except South Carolina and any team on the Tigers’ schedule for the 2017 campaign.
The Wolverines, led by coach Jim Harbaugh, will be starting four new players in the defensive backfield in the 2017 season. Essentially, Wiggins could help add some experience to Michigan’s young defense. Tyree Kinnel and Josh Metellus, the top two safety options, ran with the starters at the end of spring practice. Meanwhile, David Long and LaVert Hill both are sophomores with no starting experience.
Wiggins made 67 tackles, four interceptions, and four tackles for a loss during his Clemson career.
As long as Wiggins graduates from Clemson, which he plans to do this month, he will be eligible to play immediately at a new program.
