“If it’s anything second round, then I don’t really think that I’ll be staying in the draft, I’ll probably come back to school,” Wilson told reporters on Friday. “That’s the good spot that I’m in - I don’t have a bad choice either way.”
The 6-foot-10, 240-pound athlete played in 20 games for the Wolverines in the 2016-17 season. He averaged 10.7 points, 1.4 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. Wilson shot 56.6 percent from the field, 43.8 percent from three-point range, and 82.4 percent from the free throw line.
In the 2014 class, Wilson, from Sacramento (CA) Capital Christian, was ranked No. 122, according to the 247Sports Composite. He was the 32nd-best small forward and the No. 14 ranked player from the state of California.
Wilson strained his left quad during a workout with the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. He also worked out for the Utah Jazz. Wilson has no idea how the injury will affect where he is picked in the draft.
“I’m not too sure yet,” the he said. “I don’t know how this will affect my stock or whatever. I haven’t really gotten too much feedback, but once I do, I’ll look over it with my family and my coaches and go from there.”
The 21-year-old has received a request to reschedule a workout with the Spurs. He also plans to visit with the Orlando Magic.
“I should be fine within the next week or so,” he said.
Wilson, along with Michigan center Moritz Wagner, have until May 24th to withdrawal from the 2017 NBA Draft. Wagner is also planning to return to school, unless he is a first-round selection.
