Michigan signee O’Maury Samuels won three track and field state titles for Los Lunas High School in New Mexico.
Samuels, a 2017 four-star running back, finished first in the 100-meter dash (11.22) and helped his team win the 400-meter (42.89), and 800-meter (1:28.84) relay teams. He placed third in the 200-meter dash (22.79). Los Lunas finished fourth in the team standings.
The 5-foot-10, 192-pound running back missed two games in the 2016 season due to an ankle injury. He carried the ball 160 times for 1,376 yards and 14 touchdowns. Samuels added seven receptions for 46 yards and a score.
Samuels committed to Michigan on April 3rd and signed on National Signing Day. He was ranked No. 278 in the 2017 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He was ranked as the 21st-best running back and the No. 1 player in the state of New Mexico.
The only other running back from Michigan’s 2017 class is Kurt Taylor, from Loganville (GA) Grayson.
