Michigan released their final schedules for the 2018 and 2019 seasons this week; for more details, click here.
Of course, Notre Dame is back on the schedule in 2018, followed by Western Michigan. The 2019 season starts with Middle Tennessee State, which is mostly known around Michigan as the team that shocked the Spartans in the 2016 March Madness upset. Army comes back on the schedule after being off since 1962 and Michigan will try to even up the series.
Overall, the non-conference schedule is filled up until 2021, when Michigan has just two filled spots on the schedule - Virginia Tech and Washington. (The third spot will probably go to an easier team, rather than a P5.) The next year, though, 2022, only one team is scheduled - UCLA. Michigan plays the Bruins in 2022-23, Texas in ‘24 and ‘27, and Oklahoma in ‘25 and ‘26.
Who else should Michigan add starting in 2022?
If the College Football Playoff remains in place, non-conference wins may increase chances to get in or hurt, depending on who you add. It’s always great to lose a game early in the season if you can run the table and win your conference. With recent games against Florida and Florida State, many other teams out there would be great season openers.
Let’s hear from you!
