2018 Tight End Michael Ezeike
Eh, not bad, eh? The Ontario, Canada product - and lanky, 6’5” 210-pounder - earned an offer from the Michigan staff this week. He’s ranked as the #17 tight end in the cycle, a three-star player and #419 overall on the Composite.
His highlight film shows an athletic freak, though - more receiver than lineman, with the self-dubbed nickname “Megatron.” Take a look:
We have to take points away for giving himself a nickname, but credit for a great game on the field. This kid will rise from his three-star status once he gets a little more attention, presumably.
2018 Outside Linebacker Cameron McGrone
We mentioned McGrone a little in last week’s roundup, as the staff is reportedly targeting the 6’1”, 215-pound outside linebacker as a middle linebacker in Don Brown’s defense.
McGrone is certainly an interesting player on the field; on the one hand, he reminds me a little of Michigan LB/FB Ben Mason (or previous decommits Chase Lasater or David Reese) thanks to his thick frame and very strong punch whenever he hits another player.
On the other, he also has a game resembling Devin Bush - a shorter guy who’s a terrific blitzer and causes a lot of havoc all over the place.
Needless to say, it seems like he’d be a good fit at U-M.
2019 Offensive Tackle Trevor Keegan
Moving on to 2019 now, the staff extended an offer to another two offensive tackles this week - which, interestingly, puts their total number of offers to 16 for offensive tackles while only 2 interior linemen have gotten an offer. Presumably some of those “tackles” will end up moving inside, and a perfect example of one is coming up here in a second.
Anyway, Keegan is 6’6”, 310 out of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and he’s listed as the #1 player in the state according to 247Sports and the #7 offensive tackle in the cycle. His highlights are private, unfortunately, but I’ll take their word for it.
Keegan mostly has offers from Big Ten schools at this point, plus Arkansas and TCU.
2019 Offensive Guard William Putnam
The #11 tackle in the cycle per the Composite (but really probably a guard at the next level), this Florida native is certainly more guard-shaped at 6’4” 280 and plays like it, too. He pulls effectively and lays some good hits on the run.
He’d probably acquit himself well enough at tackle, which is a good sign you’ve got an athletic guard on your hands.
Putnam has offers from Ohio State, Georgia, UCLA, Miami, and Penn State.
2019 Outside Linebacker Nakobe Dean
The outside linebacker from Horn Lake, Mississippi is good at blitzing, coverage, and run support, which is pretty close to everything you’d ever want a linebacker to do. He’s unranked so far in the Composite but he’s the #1 player in his state per 247Sports and he’s the #4 outside linebacker and #40 player overall.
