We are less than a week away from Michigan’s season opener, and while their depth chart may still be undecided, the Wolverines have named their team captains for 2017. The offensive captain will be tackle Mason Cole, while the defensive captain is linebacker Mike McCray.

Cole has started in 38 straight games for Michigan and will be switching from Center to Tackle this year. The 6’5 lineman could have jumped ship and headed to the NFL in 2017, but he decided to stay in Ann Arbor for his senior season.
McCray finally became a starter last season and had a highly productive year, recording 76 tackles, 12.5 for a loss, and 4.5 sacks.
Both men will be captains on a team with great aspirations. Being a captain is an honor for them, but it is also comes with a duty... to be leaders in times of trouble and triumph. Both Cole and McCray are high character and individuals, the team made the right decisions for their captain selections.
