Anyone who’s been following the Michigan Wolverines basketball team this season has witnessed a unit that can beat any given team in the nation on any given night. After an impressive and action-packed victory over Michigan State on Saturday, the Associated Press Poll is finally giving U-M some love.
In the new AP Top 25 Poll released today, Michigan is ranked No. 23. Michigan State slipped from No. 4 to No. 9, and Ohio State is one spot ahead of U-M at No. 22.
Steady as she goes for John Belein’s squad, who has proven to be one of the most consistently good coaches in all of college basketball. Michigan is now 15-4 on the season, with notable wins over Texas, UCLA, MSU and Indiana to name a few.
Two of Michigan’s losses were by less than three points, with a two-point loss versus LSU and a one-point heartbreaking defeat against Purdue.
At this point, Michigan appears poised to make a solid run in not only the Big Ten Tournament, but also in the NCAA Tournament. Not many teams will want to face U-M going forward, they know how to compete home or away, against any level of competition.
