Greg Frey meets with Willie Taggart at Florida State, report says

Frey was a player for Florida State back in the day. Could this spell the end of his tenure at Michigan?

The talk among fans since yesterday’s Outback Bowl loss has been about their displeasure of passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton and offensive coordinator Tim Drevno.

But another Michigan coach may be on the move before either Hamilton or Drevno.

Michigan offensive tackles/tight ends coach/run game coordinator Greg Frey reportedly met with Florida State head coach Willie Taggart about a potential job on Taggart’s staff, according to a report from 247Sports.com.

According to the report, Frey drove to Tallahassee with his wife after the Outback Bowl Monday. He met with Taggart sometime Tuesday.

Frey was also offered a position under Taggart’s staff at Oregon, but Frey declined and joined Harbaugh’s staff in 2017.

With Taggart offering Frey a position in the past, Frey already being familiar with Taggart, and the fact he is a former player at Florida State, I think there is a very high chance this deal gets done. Frey has a great deal of respect for Jim Harbaugh and the University of Michigan, but he also has a deep love for his alma mater. This may be his one chance to go do that, so I wouldn’t blame him one bit to return home.

This is a developing story...
