The Michigan Wolverines have made an offer to the top rated wide receiver in Florida for the class of 2019, Chaminade-Madonna Prep’s John Dunmore. He has committed to Florida, but that doesn’t mean Michigan is out of the running.
Dunmore chatted with Maize ‘N’ Brew and talked about meeting Jim Harbaugh twice in the past and what he thinks of the U-M program.
When it comes to the relationships built with the Michigan staff, everything is still in the beginning stages.
“I’m currently still getting to know the staff there. So my relationship with them is fresh. I look forward to building it up in hopes of having a strong relationship. And as far as recruitment goes I definitely have the program on my radar and will be paying close attention to the program and how they go about recruiting me.” Dunmore said.
Dunmore has been to Ann Arbor, as he had an unofficial visit in 2017.
“It all started on my official visit there last summer. I connected with Ms. Gwendolyn Bush who works there for the football program. My family knows her and when you’re from South FL its like one bog family. So when I got a chance to finally speak to her I felt vert comfortable. We just talked about family no football stuff at first. I love her she’s great!” he said.
Although Dunmore needs to build a stronger relationship with the Michigan staff, he’s had the chance to speak with Jim Harbaugh on multiple occasions and the conversations were positive.
“I think he’s a great coach. I’ve had the chance to meet him twice and both conversations were great. He’s very down to earth and seems like he cares about his players. Not all about football with him. He wants to know how me and my family are doing. And football wise he’s great too. I saw what he did with the 49ers and Michigan. And heard stories of what he did at Stanford.” Dunmore said.
The 6-2 & 172 lb wideout has quickness and strength to his game. Dunmore wants to be used all over the field.
“Physically I like to use my combination of size and speed when it comes to getting open or when someone tries to cover me. And mentally I like to be used all over the field. I can work from the slot and outside as well. I’m getting better at the slot so I can create miss matches with my size and speed.” Dunmore said.
Dunmore is ranked No. 121 overall in his class, and ranked No. 22 for his position.
