Harbaugh addresses back up QB competition, injuries, and more

The Michigan Wolverines defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 42-7 on Saturday afternoon.

After the game, Harbaugh spoke to the media, here are some of his comments:

  • Said QB Shea Patterson made some unbelievable throws, said that the wind was really swirling and it reminded Harbaugh of how he used to play for the Chicago Bears.
  • “wasn’t an easy night to catch the football either”
  • “Rutgers was doing a good job containing our run game”
  • “The offensive line protection was really terrific all night”
  • “The throw and catch part was really difficult in this game, and our guys did it at as high a level as you can do it”
  • Said RB Tru Wilson did a really heck of a job, running hard and keeping speed.
  • “I think the biggest majority is that feel, pocket awareness, where the quiet spot is, he was (Shea Patterson) as good as he’s ever looked tonight in the pocket.”
  • Said that DE Rashan Gary is the same down to Earth person he has always been, “when he talks, it’s something important”
  • On QB’s Joe Milton and Brandon Peters: “We wanted to get ‘em both playing, get ‘em those reps”, “they both needed game reps”, “we like things that both can do”, “just keeping them both ready”
  • Said S Josh Metellus has a soft tissue injury he’s working through
  • CB Lavert Hill is being evaluated for a concussion
  • “We’re really confident in (safety) Brad Hawkins”
